Overview
The Biotechnology MSc provides advanced level training in Biotechnology, Biological and Biochemical Engineering.

Objectives

The course equips students with the knowledge and skills necessary to perform: analysis as higher technicians in the health, environment, food and farm sector and quality control analysis; in Research and Technology Development in public and private institutions to pursue a PhD.

The MSc also provides life-long training opportunities for professionals of the health and education sector and pharmaceutical industry wishing to update their knowledge in this important area.

Tuition and Annual Tuition Fee 2026/2027

National Students: 1100 Euros

International Students*: 4000 Euros

Application Fee: 50 Euros

Registration Fee and School Insurance: 175 Euros

Note: The tuition of this course can be paid in 10 installments, being the first at the time of registration and the remaining in the months of October, November, December, January, February, March, April, May and June.

* in accordance with Decree-Law No. 36/2014, changed by Decree-Law No.62/2018, of 6th August, international students are nationals of a country which is not a Member State of the European Union and are not a legally resident in Portugal for more than 2 uninterrupted years by 1st of January of the enrolment year

Career Opportunities

A Master in Biotechnology is a qualified specialist with the skills to work as a senior technician in analytical laboratories, whether for environmental or food diagnostics, as part of a research team, or to work in public institutions or companies, or as an industrial consultant.
More specifically, due to the interdisciplinary nature of their training, a Master in Biotechnology will be able to work in various industrial or service sectors, from the agri-food, pharmaceutical, veterinary and chemical industries, covering areas such as research and technological development, quality control, production management, commercial services and industrial regulation, among others.
