UAlg, its staff, teachers, researchers and students, have committed themselves to take an active role in the promotion of sustainable development, both in the Academy and in society, assuming their responsibility as agents of knowledge creation, training and transfer.

This commitment includes continuous improvement in energy management, building management, well-being, including the physical and visual quality of teaching and leisure spaces, food and physical activity, mobility within the institution and commuting, and management of mass flows (air emissions, water, consumables, waste, including plastics, and wastewater).

In addition to the aspects mentioned, this award presupposes UAlg's leadership capacity to build a sustainable university, the commitment to society, the development of curricula on sustainable, inclusive and intelligent organizations and spaces (including disciplinary units in existing courses, and strengthening of advanced training in this field), scientific and technological research to support sustainable development, and the transfer of knowledge to society.
