UAlg student selected for US Department program
Renato Ponte, student of the degree course in Mathematics Applied to Economics and Management, University of Algarve, was selected for the program “Study of the United States Institutes for Student Leaders from Europe” (SUSI SLE) in “Entrepreneurship and Economic Development” . This five-week program is fully funded by the US Department of State and runs at the University of Tennessee in Chattanooga.
78 candidates competed for this year's competition, distributed as follows: 25 for the Entrepreneurship and Economic Development program, 23 for the Civic Engagement program, 17 for the Youth, Education and Closing the Skills Gap program, and 13 applications without indication of institute. After evaluating all applications received, 15 were selected for interview, four of which were selected for final approval by the Department of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) of the US Department of State.
